Designed for use in Creative Arts (Visual Arts) , this poster encourages students to self-monitor their learning with attention to the Success Criteria and design requirements of their task, use of media and attention to detail, creative efforts, completion of tasks in a timely manner and general co-operation in the class setting. It can also be a useful resource to have on hand during a three-way conference (parent-student-teacher).
Please spend some time ‘unpacking’ the rubric with your students to clarify your expectations and theirs. For example, your understanding of ‘Craftsmanship’, is probably different to the students’ initial understanding - usually ‘colouring in between the lines’. It may not mean keeping to the ‘lines’ at all - without artistic innovators we would have no Picasso! When are the ‘lines’ (rules) are important? Enjoy those conversations with your student artists!

The Shapes Drawing Challenge is useful for developing and consolidating skills and concepts.
The Shapes Drawing Challenge can be adapted for small or large groups, or individuals, depending on availability of technology. It makes an ideal “station” activity and can be completed individually or collaboratively. It can be differentiated with simpler or more difficult drawing items. While it was designed to use with Microsoft Word or PowerPoint, students can use any other similar programs or apps such as Google Slides or Google Draw
These Form and Shape Games and Activities are useful for developing and consolidating skills and concepts related to Form and Shape as Elements of Art. The activities can be used as a warm-up, brain breaks, or transition activities, or form the basis for an entire lesson or series of lessons.
The Line Games and Activities can be adapted for small or large groups, or individuals. Some can be used as a “station” activity. The activities can be adapted and differentiated for various skill levels. Suggestions for varying or extending each activity are included.
